Bolt Mountain, West Virginia | The BackWoods Drifter

Boundless Beauty

The first photo in this series was taken from Peachtree Ridge looking towards Ivy Knob on Bolt Mountain. It struck me immediately how similar the two ridge lines were so I named this photo Twins. The second photo is from Lake Stephens. The third was taken in early Autumn and is of Peachtree Creek.

I have captured a few photos like the first one below. I was standing in pretty dense foliage when I was offered this view from beyond the trees. The second photo is a branch off of Big Coal River. The only time you will find water here is when the river is at flood stage.

“Those things that mother nature denied to human sight,
she revealed to the eyes of the soul. “

Looks like you live in some beautiful countryside.

Have you ever considered trying to see some of your photos? Sites like http://www.istockphoto.com allow photographers to sell their photos as stock photos.

Our companies use Istockphoto quite a bit. The pictures are good, and the cost is reasonable.

Might be something to think about.

Thanks for the info. That’s actually news to me but something I will definitely look in to. I’ve only got about a thousand photos, literally.

There are a lot of sites out there that are looking for photos, and you never know what can sell.

We buy all sorts of stuff off of Istock.

Could be another source of income. You never know.

Thanx Kristine, I did check with Istock and they are not excepting nature photos at the moment. Still searching though, getting close to losing internet connection… something like what you are talking about would be a huge help. If there is one thing I do have that’s a lot of photos but unfortunately all nature related.

I’ve been to Harper’s Ferry and it was beautiful! We had ice crem at a little place there and I still treasure the memory! :)

Harpers Ferry is indeed beautiful. It is also where the Appalachian Trail enters West Virginia from across the Potomac. Great photo opportunities.

Thanx for commenting…

I can’t wait to get on Peachtree ridge again and see all of the beautiful scenery surrounding the area. Pics just don’t do it justice. Even though the pics are good, still nothing like viewing it with your own eyes. Cool pics Denny.

Thanx buddy, If I’m not mistaken you were with me when I took a couple of these photos.

Yep. I think the first two and possibly the fourth pic.

You are right on two of the three. The one from the lake I was with my son and we were hiking with our dogs Sam and Sheba. The photos from our trip to the lake are here.
