I think the phrase, it’s all in the details, would make a great state motto for West Virginia. I didn’t really want to use it as a title again but with this photo, I really couldn’t think of anything better.
Beautiful picture! Denny I have to say that this is a great website! I grew up in bolt and I know, how truly unique and special it is.
I have been in Louisville, Kentucky for 2 weeks and was getting a little home sick. I typed in Bolt Mountain on yahoo and your site came up.
Me and my brother in law Lenny did a little gensangin before I left and found quite a bit.”wish i was out there right now!!”
I signed the MTR petition and will proceed to have all my friends sign it. God help us if they make it to Bolt Mountain!!! Keep up the good work man

Thanx Buzzy for the comment and signing the petition. I sincerely wish I could stop the blasting and wanton destruction tomorrow. They are already mining the foothills around Bolt Mountain.
Like a fellow said at the wind rally today - once you put up a windmill, you can always take it back down. Once you take down a mountain, it can never be put back up.
What a beautiful blog! I stumbled upon it by accident today and have since been looking at all your wonderful pictures! I spend a great deal of my time taking photos of rural WV and I would love to put a link to you on my site/blog, roadmosey.com.
It was really nice seeing someone else with the same love of WV nature as myself.
I’ll be stopping back often…Sky

Thanx Sky It is a passion. There is a cool picture everywhere one looks. I would be lost in the woods without my camera.
Thanks for the link.

Denny, I couldn’t find the right section to answer a question of yours, I think the plant you were wondering about is called MULLEN. I’m not sure, mullen grows everywhere here in Southern WV. I might think it was comfrey if you found it near water. Mullen has fuzzy leaves but grows a middle stalk that can be close to 6 ft high and has little yellow flowers on it. It has some medicinal properties, but I can’t name any right now, I don’t remember them.

Thanks for the info Sherry. I’ve often wondered about that plant.
I apologize for the trouble commenting on that post. I have to close commenting on older posts to try and keep spam down.
